Vietnam has emerged as a bright spot in the world’s artificial intelligence (AI) market, as Vietnamese representatives are constantly invited to showcase their products and research at global AI events.

AI (Artificial Intelligence), also known as artificial intelligence, is considered the industry of the future. In a survey by NVIDIA on the topic “The Role of AI in Financial Services” of over 200 global financial services professionals for public leaders, regulators, developers, and architects Information technology (IT) from Fintech companies, investment companies, retail banks… all point to the strong potential of AI, especially in the banking and financial services sectors. Specifically, 34% of those surveyed expect “AI” to drive revenue growth of 20% or more.

The key to successful AI implementation is a comprehensive solution including hardware and software that considers “AI as a platform”. Deploying a centralized, shared AI infrastructure will centralize experts, increase productivity and scale; shorten the process from product development to product deployment, and reduce the total cost of ownership through efficient use of compute and storage resources.

On the occasion of the conference “Application of AI in the field of finance – banking – insurance” (April 21, 2022) in Ho Chi Minh City, ADG and NVIDIA had an interview with Mr. Anish Pandey – Head of Strategy at NVIDIA in Southeast Asia.

How do you evaluate the ability of the Vietnamese market, sir?

Vietnam is one of the fastest-growing markets for AI in Southeast Asia, and one where the number of developers is also growing. Therefore, Vietnam is attracting businesses to invest in setting up factories and research and development centers in Vietnam, promoting the development of the artificial intelligence market. On the other hand, effective support policies of the Government also contribute to promoting the growth of the artificial intelligence market in the next 5 years.

Could you please share more about the picture that Vietnamese businesses have been applying AI?

NVIDIA is seeing a lot of Vietnamese businesses applying innovative AI and expanding similar capabilities to serve other companies to bring in significant revenue. Some of the industries investing in AI are finance – banking, insurance, telecommunications, auto industry, healthcare… There are also pioneers in Vietnam considering NVIDIA Omniverse when they build solutions. The solution revolves around the digital twin, a concept that many tech companies have recently referred to as the “Metaverse”.

Vinfast Company has been applying NVIDIA’s AI technologies in building self-driving car systems. Viettel Cyberspace Company has applied AI in speech recognition, document digitization, and electronic customer identification. Some other companies have applied image processing technology from NVIDIA to build smart city services, etc.

AI is a new field that requires high-quality human resources. So how do you rate the Vietnamese labor market and how does NVIDIA have the policy to support education and training so that workers can access new fields like AI?

Vietnam has high-quality AI human resources. We see a large number of developers from Vietnam participating in NVIDIA’s annual global AI conference. The data reports show that the number of tools downloaded from NVIDIA GPU Cloud such as frameworks, and pre-train models… in the Vietnamese market is very large.

In addition, today, the leading technical universities in Vietnam all have intensive training programs in artificial intelligence AI as well as invest in modern laboratories. To support, NVIDIA also has cooperation programs, transferring training content to schools as well as having specific policies to support research and development.
